The situation in the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces continue offensive operations, is gaining new momentum. According to both Ukrainian and Russian military telegram channels, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are adapting their strategy, focusing their efforts on the flanks of their Kursk bridgehead.
These are territories located near the Ukrainian border. At the same time, the intensity of attacks in the northern direction, that is, deep into Russian territory, according to Russian publics, is decreasing.
On the western flank, Ukrainian military outlets today confirmed the capture of the village of Raptove, south of Koreneve, although this information appeared a few days ago. Russian Telegram channels are reporting the possible loss of the neighboring village of Byakhove.
Also yesterday, Russian publics wrote en masse about attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Hlushkiv district, which is located even further west - south of Rylsk.
Russian military analysts believe that the Ukrainian army seeks to seize this area in order to expand its zone of control in the border area. In addition, this is an attempt to secure the flanks and rear of the Kursk bridgehead of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from a possible counterattack by the Russian army from the Glushkiv district to the south and southeast towards Sumy and Mogrytsa, Sumy region.
On the eastern flank, the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the village of Borky, Ukrainian public forums write and show photos (map 2). This is on the outskirts of the Belovsky district, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been storming for several days. There, as the Russian Federation stated yesterday, Ukrainian units were pushed back from the village of Krupets.
There are no reports of changes in the Sudzhi and Koreneve districts yet. Russian attempts are underway in the direction of Lgov to stop the penetration of Ukrainian DRGs. Judging by the videos that are increasingly appearing from there, Sudzhi is under Ukrainian control. At the same time, Russian telegram channels claim that Ukraine was unable to take Martynovka north of Sudzhi along the Kursk highway.
That is, the main focus of hostilities has now, as already mentioned, shifted to the east and west of the Kursk bridgehead of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian publications attribute this to the fact that Moscow has brought its main reserves to the north - to cover the Kurchatov NPP and Kursk itself. While the border areas remain more vulnerable to Ukrainian strikes.
However, even there, the advancement of the Armed Forces is no longer as easy as in the first days of the offensive, and settlements often change hands.
The Russians are introducing additional reserves into the battle, both conscripts and combat units from the front, and Russian Telegram channels are publishing more and more photos and videos of damaged Ukrainian equipment, killed and captured Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters.
