According to Forbes , the Ukrainian Armed Forces risk being encircled south of the city of Pokrovsk. Russian troops bypassed the Ukrainian units that were defending between the village of Memryk and the Vovcha River, which led to the formation of an open salient. This performance could become a trap for hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers.
According to the publication, four Ukrainian brigades may be surrounded: the 59th motorized infantry brigade, the 68th hunting brigade, the 117th territorial defense brigade (TRO) and the 15th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU). The situation is complicated by the fact that the Ukrainian forces are critically short of resources and personnel. The loss of parts of four brigades could have catastrophic consequences for the defense capability of Ukraine.
Forbes analysts note that, despite the complexity of the situation, the successful evacuation of these almost surrounded troops can have a positive effect - it will strengthen and shorten the Ukrainian defense line, which, in turn, will provide better protection against further attacks by the Russian army.
