The Armed Forces received the first robotic fire-fighting complex in Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the commissioning of the first domestic robotic fire-fighting complex in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This innovative robot is the first example of the integration of robotics in the field of firefighting and emergency response in Ukraine.

As reported, the robotic fire-extinguishing complex is a mobile crawler platform with special equipment for supplying water under pressure or special foam that extinguishes the flame. Using the control panel, the operator directs the robot from a safe place to the epicenter of the fire.

It is noted that the flow of liquid supplied to the combustion source can be regulated remotely.

The robot firefighter works at a distance of up to 2 km from the operator in an open area and up to 400 m on an intersection. The operator receives images from the dangerous area where the fire is extinguished from an objective control video camera installed on the platform.

As the Ministry of Defense said, the ground robotic complex was initially developed for the needs of rescuers, but the military became interested in the machine.

Such a robot is needed, for example, in an area where there are unexploded ammunition, in the approach to equipment that is on fire and in which there is a risk of ammunition detonation, as well as in other potentially dangerous cases associated with a risk to life and health. I am military personnel. At the request of the military, this robotic platform received a reinforced undercarriage. The control range and battery life have also been increased.

Thanks to its tracked chassis, this robot firefighter can overcome difficult terrain, move burning debris, work at extreme temperatures and create a so-called “water wall” with its water cannon.
