The armed forces of Ukraine manage to regain lost positions on the territory of the Kursk region of Russia. This became possible thanks to the effective actions of the Ukrainian troops, who are actively recapturing the territories that were pushed back by the Russian army 2-4 weeks ago. According to the military expert, reserve officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andrii Kramarov, Russian troops suffered significant losses while trying to dislodge Ukrainian forces, and now they are no longer able to hold these territories.
Andriy Kramarov emphasizes that the Russian troops, despite their numerical superiority, do not have the necessary flexibility for stable control over the captured territories. According to him, the Russian army suffered heavy losses during attempts to attack the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was forced to retreat, leaving the territories in Kurshchyna, which are now again under the control of Ukrainian forces.
"They advanced, advanced, lost a significant amount of their forces, retreated. And now we again occupy the same positions of the first line of defense," Kramarov noted.
Despite the considerable efforts of the Russian army, which lacks flexibility and maneuverability, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to restore control over the Kursk region. The military expert also points to examples from Syria, where Russian troops were unable to achieve significant results due to the lack of the necessary strategic capabilities.
"There is a lack of flexibility, and this is clearly visible on the example of Kurshchyna," Kramarov notes, adding that the Russian army is not capable of conducting effective offensive operations, except, perhaps, in the Donetsk region.
According to some sources, Vladimir Putin gave the command to knock out the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kursk region at any cost by January 20, 2025, when the new US President Donald Trump will be inaugurated. Such terms confirm the importance of the region for Russia in the context of international politics and efforts to strengthen its own positioning at the front.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi visited the Ukrainian units performing combat missions in the Kursk region and outlined the main goal of the Ukrainian troops in this region. However, military expert Mykhailo Zhirokhov points out that in war it is impossible to give clear terms for holding or releasing territories, as such decisions depend on many factors, including tactical and strategic circumstances.
