The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the successful destruction of several strategic objects on the territory of the Russian Federation. On the night of August 28, several important military and economic facilities were struck, causing extensive damage and fires.
Damage to the "Atlas" oil depot in the Rostov region
One of the most significant successes was the attack on the Atlas oil depot in the Rostov region. As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of the damage, a large-scale fire broke out in the territory of vertical tanks that stored significant volumes of fuel. To eliminate the consequences of the fire, fire engines were involved, which indicates the seriousness of the situation. A fire at such a facility can have long-lasting consequences, both for the supply of fuel and for the general state of the region's economy.
Destruction of the "Zenit" oil depot in the Kirov region
In addition, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine hit another oil depot - "Zenit" in the Kirov region. This facility, like the Atlas oil depot, was of strategic importance for supplying the Russian troops with fuel and lubricants. Damage to such objects significantly complicates logistics and reduces the capabilities of the Russian army in conducting combat operations.
Strike on the "Zapad" field artillery depot in the Voronezh region
In addition to the oil depots, Ukrainian defenders struck a field artillery depot of Russian troops codenamed "Zapad" located in the Voronezh region. This warehouse provided Russian troops with ammunition used for artillery shelling of Ukrainian positions. The destruction of the warehouse means a significant reduction in the firepower of Russian troops at the front.
Strategic importance of the operation
The General Staff of the Armed Forces noted that these strikes were part of a coordinated operation aimed at undermining Russia's military and economic potential. According to the Ukrainian military, these operations continue as part of the general strategy of weakening the Russian army and reducing its capabilities to continue aggression against Ukraine.
"The defense forces continue to take all measures to stop Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff said.
