In the first six months of 2025, Ukrainians dissolved at least 38,671 marriages in courts. The largest number of divorce decisions was made in the Dnipropetrovsk region — 5,188 couples, which is about 13% of the total. Such data was published by the Opendatabot service with reference to the search engine for court decisions “Grandma”.
Kyiv ranks second in terms of the number of divorces — 3,544 cases (9%), followed by Odesa Oblast with 3,121 cases (8%). Together with Kharkiv and Kyiv Oblasts, these regions form the top five, accounting for 45% of all divorces.
In the west of the country, the divorce rate is traditionally lower. Thus, in the Zakarpattia region, only 777 cases were recorded, and in the Volyn region - 829. These are some of the lowest indicators in Ukraine among peaceful regions.
In addition to the courts, Ukrainians also divorced through civil registry offices. In the first half of the year, 12,691 divorces were registered here — three times fewer than in the courts.
In this case, the capital is the leader, where the registry offices recorded 1,780 cases. This is followed by the Dnipropetrovsk region (1,252) and the Kharkiv region (889).
The fewest divorces in the registry offices are in Transcarpathia (171), Chernivtsi (239) and Ternopil (247) regions.
Thus, the largest number of divorces is concentrated in industrial and urbanized regions - Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odessa regions and the capital. In the west of the country, family unions turned out to be stronger, although migration and varying levels of social tension also affect the statistics.
