Five border guards who facilitated the illegal departure of over 120 men to Poland were detained in Volyn, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
According to preliminary data, from October 2023 to January 2024, military personnel entered false information into databases, allegedly claiming that the men had disabilities, which allowed them to cross the border outside the established rules. The cost of such a "service" could reach up to $10,000 per person.
All those involved have been informed of suspicion for:

Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — facilitation of illegal smuggling of persons across the state border by an official using his official position;

Part 3 of Article 419 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of the rules of border service, which caused grave consequences, committed under martial law.
The sanctions of the articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment. SBI investigators have already filed a petition with the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention. The investigation is ongoing, other persons involved in the illegal smuggling of citizens are being identified.
