The State Bureau of Investigation conducted a search of the apartment of Lieutenant General, former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Valeriy Kondratyuk.
As reported by Babel, citing its own sources, investigators came to search the house on Tuesday. Kondratyuk himself was not at home - law enforcement officers found only his wife.
There is currently no official information as to which specific case the investigation is being conducted within. Journalists have contacted the State Bureau of Investigation for comment, but there has been no response yet.
Valeriy Kondratyuk headed the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine in 2020–2021. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine (2016–2019), and also headed the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. Previously, he held the position of Head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Kondratyuk's name has been mentioned repeatedly in connection with intelligence and national security reforms. However, it is currently unknown whether the SBI's actions are related to his previous service activities.
