According to the latest reports of military analysts from the UA War Infographics center, it became known that the Iskander-M ballistic missiles that hit the Poltava Military Communications Institute on September 3 contain 27 American parts. This causes concern, because such components belonging to Western manufacturers are constantly found in the remains of missiles used by Russia against Ukrainian cities.
International details in Russian weapons
In addition to American parts, technical spare parts of Swiss origin (4 units), Taiwanese (2 units) and Japanese (1 unit) were also found in the weapons used for attacks on Ukrainian cities. These findings indicate a violation of international sanctions imposed by the US government, which prohibit the export of such components to Russia.
Impact on conflict
The analysis notes that US and Western parts are regularly found in the remains of Russian weapons used in attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv. Defenders of Ukraine also detect Western components banned for export in weapons produced in Russia in 2022-2023.
These facts emphasize that Western sanctions and export controls, which were intended to limit the supply of critical technologies to Russia, are not comprehensive and effective. It may also indicate that Washington and other Western countries are not actively enforcing their sanctions, allowing Russia to continue using Western components in its military equipment.
