In Khmelnytskyi, law enforcement officers exposed a former deputy director for economics of a municipal enterprise who abused her official position during the purchase of electricity. Due to her actions, the city budget suffered losses in the amount of more than 4.3 million hryvnias. This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnytskyi regional police.
According to the investigation, in 2022, the utility company signed a contract with a private company for the supply of electricity worth over 52 million hryvnias. After that, the official signed several additional agreements that unjustifiably increased the price.
As noted by Oleg Dyadyk, head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, these actions resulted in the company overpaying the supplier by more than 4.3 million hryvnias. Of this amount, approximately 430 thousand hryvnias were from the city budget.
The former official was reported on suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - misappropriation or embezzlement of property through abuse of official position.
She faces a sentence of up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
