Quarantine restrictions have been introduced in Kyiv due to the detection of rabies in a wild fox in the Holosiivskyi district. The sick animal was found near the Koncha Zaspa holiday home on Stolychny highway. The State Food and Consumer Protection Service announced the establishment of a 10-kilometer safety zone around the site of the pathogen's discovery.
Special measures to combat rabies have been introduced in the district. Veterinary services have already agreed on an action plan that includes control of wild and stray animals, inspection of pets, and enhanced vaccination.
Residents are urged to avoid contact with animals that are behaving suspiciously, avoid feeding wild animals, and seek immediate medical attention in case of bites or scratches. Particular attention is recommended to be paid to vaccinating domestic dogs and cats.
Rabies is a deadly viral disease that, without timely treatment, inevitably leads to fatal consequences. The only way to protect yourself is through preventive vaccination and prompt medical attention in case of contact with a potentially infected animal.
