On July 19, Mykolaiv again became a target for Russian attacks. The mayor of the city Oleksandr Sienkovych confirmed the death of four people, including a 13-year-old boy.
The attack took place around 17:00 in a residential area of Mykolaiv. According to Sienkovych, the blow was inflicted by an air missile that hit the playground. According to reports, four people, including a child, were among the dead. Another 24 people were injured, four of whom were children.
The mayor of Mykolaiv reported that the number of victims increased after the attack, and two adults and two children are in the hospital. Updated data from the State Emergency Service confirmed that three people died, one of them a child. Eight apartment buildings were damaged, as well as a kindergarten building.
Among the dead is 13-year-old Kyrylo Dyadyushka, a dancer of the SOUVENIR folk dance ensemble. Colleagues and classmates remember him as a talented and creative guy. Teachers from the Mykolaiv Gymnasium No. 10, where Kyrylo studied, expressed their deep sympathy and described him as a bright and creatively gifted person, whose death was a great loss.
The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the missile had hit a children's playground, adding to the pain of the tragedy. Kirill's mother is in a state of shock, and she is receiving psychological help from the State Emergency Service.
This attack became a new example of indiscriminate violence that Russian forces continue to perpetrate against civilians in Ukraine. Immediately after the attack, city services and medical workers mobilized their forces to provide assistance to the victims and manage the consequences of the explosion.
