The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has published an updated list of cars whose owners will pay transport tax in 2025. The list includes elite cars whose market value exceeds a certain threshold. The tax for such vehicles will be 25 thousand hryvnias a year.

According to the new criteria, cars with an engine volume of more than 2.5 liters were released no more than five years ago. Taxable vehicles remain taxes exceeding UAH 3 million (375 minimum wages as of January 1, 2025).

The calculation of the average market value of cars to determine the need to pay the tax is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Tax Code of Ukraine.
Transport tax in Ukraine has been in force since 2015 and is part of a luxury tax. It is paid by the owners of cars that meet the criteria set.
Individuals must pay the tax within 60 days after receiving the relevant notification from the tax authorities. For legal entities, the tax is charged with advance payments quarterly by the 30th of the month following the reporting quarter.
The tax is charged exclusively from the owners of the car, regardless of whether they use other persons under the lease or general power of attorney.
We will remind, Ukrainians are actively restoring the demand for new cars, which confirms the growth of sales in 2024. According to 2024, Ukrainians bought almost 70,000 new cars, spending more than UAH 125 billion, which is 14.7% more than last year. Toyota, Renault, Skoda, Volkswagen and BMW were the most popular brands.
