Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko rarely talked about his personal life - this time he made an exception and openly spoke about his children and his relationship with his ex-wife Natalia Yegorova. After more than 25 years of marriage, the couple officially divorced in 2022, but now maintain a warm and constructive relationship and take care of their children together.
The eldest son, Yegor, 25, graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) and plans to continue his studies. Vitaliy Klitschko says he would not advise his son to pursue a political career - he believes Yegor has a wider choice and more peaceful prospects outside of politics.
The youngest son, Maksym, 20, is actively involved in sports - he currently plays basketball for a team in Ukraine. Klitschko does not rule out that Maksym may return to Ukraine to further develop his sports career and sees this as a natural development of the family's sports traditions.
Daughter Elizabeth-Victoria also remains the center of attention for the family; the parents emphasize the importance of maintaining a balance between public life and private upbringing of their children.
The mayor emphasized that the decision to divorce has not changed their joint responsibility for raising children: he and his ex-wife maintain contact and coordinate issues related to the education and future plans of their sons and daughter. According to Klitschko, family values and supporting each other remain a priority despite the changes in their personal lives.
