Two new aeration units were installed on the Desna River near the village of Lytka, Brovar District, Kyiv Region. This step is part of the constant monitoring and improvement of the ecological state of the water in the river, reports the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine.
Recently launched installations ensure water aeration with the help of a powerful diesel compressor, which ensures air distribution across the entire width of the river. A 100-meter-long plastic overhead line is laid along the bottom of the river, covering the main riverbed. This allows you to artificially saturate the water with oxygen, which accelerates the process of oxidation of organic substances and contributes to the natural purification of the river.
Currently, aeration plants are operating in three key locations of the Kyiv region: in the villages of Litki and Pukhivka of the Brovar district, as well as in the village of Pirnovo of the Vyshgorod district. The State Water Agency notes that the additional oxygen supplied through these installations increases the self-cleaning properties of the river, reduces the concentration of pollutants and helps fish survive critical periods.
In addition, four more aeration plants are successfully operating on the Desna River in the Chernihiv region. The Ministry of Environment reports that the pollution of the Desna River has already been reduced, and the water quality in Kyiv remains within normal limits. The sewage treatment facilities of Kyivvodokanal are able to cope with pollution if it reaches the water intake points.
