The most favorite holidays of Ukrainians are research

Despite the difficult times, traditional religious holidays - Christmas and Easter - remain the most beloved for Ukrainians . Such results were shown by a fresh sociological study conducted in 2025.

This is evidenced by the KIIS survey data.

"Some decrease in the popularity of national national holidays is most likely due to the fact that the so -called" gardening around the flag "has decreased for the third year of the war due to the appearance of fatigue in some population and understanding that the war for a long time," sociologists say.

According to the study, the most popular are Christmas (70%) and Easter (69%). They have been consistently occupying the leading position in recent years. Over the last year, their attitude has not changed.

Next is Ukraine's Independence Day (54%). Its popularity increased from 37% in 2021 to 63-64% in 2023-2024, but this year fell to 54%.

Earlier, the new year's attitude was the same as Christmas (about 80%), but its value has decreased in recent years. Its popularity fell from 55% in 2021 to 47% in 2024, but in 2025 it has 50%.

The next most popular is the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine. Its popularity increased from 29% in 2021 to 58% in 2024, and then decreased to 44% in 2025. “According to our other research, the level of trust in the Armed Forces is the highest among all social institutions (92%), so its popularity could be higher. The problem may be that it is a relatively young holiday, which was started in 2014, ”sociologists say.

Positive attitude to the International Women's Day on March 8 in 2025 stabilized at 23%. If in 2017 this holiday was one of the most significant, it was noted as a favorite about half of the population (49%), then in 2024 - only 21%.

Another 22% are celebrated as a favorite holiday of the Trinity. The attitude is almost not changed.

Constitution Day called a favorite 18%. Its popularity increased to 28% last year, but this year it fell again.

The attitude towards May 9 has deteriorated significantly after the Russian invasion. Now celebrate Victory Day 12% of respondents. The popularity of May 1 fell to 5%.

The Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted a survey among 1000 respondents on February 4-9, 2025. The sample did not include residents of territories that are not temporarily controlled by the authorities of Ukraine (at the same time some of the respondents - IDPs, which moved from the occupied territories). Also, the survey was not conducted with citizens who went abroad after February 24, 2022.

Recall, according to sociologists, most Ukrainians have a low level of happiness and satisfaction with life, as well as a high level of anxiety. At the same time, much of the respondents feel meaning and value in their activities.
