People's deputy from the "Servant of the People" faction Andriy Odarchenko did not appear at three court hearings, which is why he was declared a state and international wanted man. According to prosecutors, Odarchenko illegally crossed the state border and is currently in Romania, where he received temporary protection.
Despite the fact that Odarchenko's lawyer doubts the reliability of the information about his client's stay abroad, evidence of his escape was provided by NABU detectives, and the court is considering the possibility of changing the preventive measure to detention and confiscating the previously paid bail of 15 million hryvnias.
We will remind, Odarchenko is accused of trying to bribe the head of the Reconstruction Agency, Mustafa Nayem. According to the investigation, the politician tried to agree on the allocation of budget funds for the repair of university buildings in exchange for a bribe. Odarchenko has already transferred part of the bribe in Bitcoin cryptocurrency.
Odarchenko's disappearance heightens suspicions about his involvement in corruption schemes and connections with influential persons, including the former head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Viktor Mykyta.
