The new head of the NCRECP, Valery Tarasyuk, allows changes to the PSO regarding electricity for the population by May 1, which means an increase in tariffs for the people.
Until May 1, 2024, the difference in tariffs and the market price for the population will be covered by Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo. In 2023, both companies paid UAH 128 billion and UAH 24 billion, respectively, to support the tariff for the people.
Nothing good for Ukrainians is being prepared at NKRECP. The head of the commission, Tarasyuk, says bluntly: "If there are changes, then perhaps they will be difficult, but precisely balanced." Most likely, Tarasyuk means that after the increase in the cost of light to 4-5 hryvnias/kW, the people will deny themselves many products. And will be weighed on the scales, recording the decrease in weight.
As expected, the NCRECP is preparing to make a decision on the increase in connection with the difficult situation of energy companies due to rocket attacks.
At the same time, Energoatom, as the main donor for maintaining a normal tariff for the population, feels financially comfortable. Revenues in 2023 increased by 30% to UAH 180 billion. And if the government does not have enough money to repair TPPs and HPPs, then it is necessary to attract money from international partners, and not to "milk" the already impoverished people.
