The two -time Olympic champion Olga Harlan spoke about how her wedding with the Italian Luigi Nizle, which is no longer around the corner, will affect the tradition in their family. Despite the fact that her fiance comes from a large Italian family, Ukrainian traditions remain an important part of the life of the athlete. Olga stressed that even during the wedding ceremony there would be no abandonment of the customs she has been honored since childhood.
Harlan confessed that although her fiance has a large family - 15 cousins and sisters - she is not going to abandon Ukrainian traditions. She noted that she would maintain them after the wedding, despite the different customs in the family of Verusle. For example, in their family for Christmas, there is a tradition to gather together and read poems, and Olga actively joined this process, even reading Ukrainian. However, she laughed, she remembered how it was admirable at first, and later he began to doubt whether it was worth continuing.
“When we get married, Ukrainian traditions will definitely be. I think it is their territory, but sorry, Ukrainian traditions should be, ”the athlete said.
It was not without humor and in questions where the traditions of two cultures do not always coincide. Olga remembered one interesting situation: there is a tradition in Ukraine, according to which the bride should wash her mother -in -law's legs, which caused a great surprise to her bridegroom. Luigi categorically refused to support this practice, although the moment himself became a reason to laugh in a couple.
Another point that Harlan remembered with a smile is the attempt to surprise the Italians with Ukrainian cuisine. In particular, she prepared cabbage cabbage, which caused admiration for her groom and his family. Borsch was a topic for jokes: although Luigi was not a great supporter of soups at first, he managed to love Ukrainian borsch after Olga infused for him to try it while traveling to Nikolaev.
“It seems to me that Gigi is not very fond of borscht too. But when he was in Nikolaev, his mother prepared a three -liter pan of borscht. I told him, "Please eat, it's very important." And he liked, ”Harlan summed up.
