Under the guise of teas for weight loss on Instagram sell psychotropes - a laboratory study

In Ukraine, a new dangerous trend is gaining popularity - "teas for weight loss", which are advertised on social networks as completely natural remedies, have been a mixture of psychotropic substances. The authors of the Channel "Pleasant Evening" conducted their own investigation and laboratory analysis and found out that most such products revealed sibutramine - a drug with serious side effects forbidden in Ukraine.

Catalina_tea_ua and Meri_detox_Ukraine Instagram accounts promised impressive results-minus 10 kg per month without effort and harm. However, the packaging, smell and response of powders to the water forced the bloggers to doubt the "herbal" origin of tea. It turned out that under the guise of "plant detox" Ukrainians sell chemical mixtures with stimulants.

Four out of five models collected from Instagram have found sybxtramine - a drug banned in Ukraine since 2010 because of the threat of heart attacks, strokes, mental disorders and even suicidal conditions. The only sample that was safe is the Typhoon pharmacy.

Sellers are shaking in "seals", but in fact these certificates only confirm that the product is registered as a food rather than a medicinal product. They are not recognized by any Ukrainian state institution. In addition, Made in Germany fake is often used, although the product is made in Turkey.

Doctors warn: Sibutramine inhibits appetite, causes euphoria and rapid weight loss, but at the same time provokes tachycardia, mental disorders, hormonal failures, risk of arrhythmia and heart attack. Rapid weight loss also threatens the reproductive health of women.

Criminal liability under Article 307 of the Criminal Code is provided for the sale of tea with Sibbramine - up to 10 years in prison with confiscation. Not only the seller but also the buyer is responsible if it stores or transports psychotropic substances. Voluntary delivery of such goods in the police may be exempted from punishment.

Although a new law on dietary supplements according to European standards will be in force in Ukraine from September 2025, "Instagram" sellers can remain out of control. This poses a huge risk to uninitiated consumers who trust beautiful packaging and promises.
