Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a law enforcement officer from the Kyiv region for receiving an illegal benefit of $10,000 and aiding and abetting the illegal cultivation of narcotics.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, a group of people involved in the drug trade in the region offered a law enforcement officer to cover up their cannabis cultivation activities. The police officer demanded $10,000 for his services.
The law enforcement officer was detained and reported on suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368, Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 2 of Article 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a penalty of up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The suspect was also reported on aiding and abetting in the illegal sowing and cultivation of cannabis by prior conspiracy.
The person who gave the bribe is suspected of providing unlawful benefit and illegal sale of narcotic drugs under Part 3 of Article 369 and Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, searches have been conducted at the suspects' residences, during which mobile phones and draft recordings were seized. The court has chosen a preventive measure for the law enforcement officer in the form of 24-hour house arrest.
