The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre -trial investigation into the case of prices at public procurement of tablets for the State Emergency Service. The court was sent to the court against two officials who, according to the investigation, made losses of more than UAH 7 million without proper verification.
The persons involved in the case were the deputy chief of one of the units of the SES of Ukraine and the deputy head of the department of the same unit. In September 2023, they conducted open bidding for the purchase of 2000 tablets totaling more than UAH 50 million.
Despite the fact that only one company took part in the tender, the officials did not call into question the proposed price, which, as it turned out later, was 30% higher than the market. The state examination confirmed the fact of overpayment.
According to the investigation, the negligence of officials has led to significant financial losses. Pursuant to Article 367 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they are threatened with up to five years in prison.
The procedural guidance in the case is carried out by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. The court should decide whether the official negligence of the officials was a random mistake - or a cover for conspiracy with the sole participant of the tender.
