After the scandal with high pensions for prosecutors in Ukraine last year, many of the involved in this situation remained in their positions, and some even received new positions. The most victim of the scandal was the Attorney General Andriy Kostin, who was forced to leave his position, but not because of the disclosed pension scheme, but because of her.
Five heads of regional prosecutors and the head of the specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense, who initially allegedly resigned, were later transferred to new positions. For example, Andriy Oliynyk, expert of the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor's Office, was transferred to the position of prosecutor of the department, while continued to receive more than 900 thousand hryvnias before his release in January 2025. Oleksandr Filchakov, expert of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, became the deputy head of the department and receives a pension of UAH 68.5 thousand per month.
Other former prosecutors, such as Andriy Mykolaychuk (expert of Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office), Andriy Glumakov (expert prosecutor's office in the field of defense of the Southern Region), Andriy Rudnitsky (Rivne Regional Office), Sergey Johnik (Zaporizhzhya Regional Office), Kateryna).
On the other hand, several prosecutors who have been suspected of falsification of disabilities and pensions continue to work as prosecutors. Thus, Taras Gorobets, the expirer of the head of the Uman Prosecutor's Office, issued a disability to obtain a pension of UAH 477 thousand from the Pension Fund of Ukraine and works as a prosecutor of the Khrystyniv department. Sergey Konechny, head of the Khmelnytsky District Prosecutor's Office, has falsified disability for early pension and was temporarily removed.
Although the violations were proven, no real punishment was applied. Legislation that allows prosecutors to receive a pension over 10 years of experience remains unchanged, which causes serious concern about the effectiveness of combating corruption in this area.
