In Dnipro, a former police officer was convicted of extorting money and sexual services from a woman who had repeatedly contacted law enforcement with complaints of domestic violence.
As reported by "Court Reporter", the Chechelivskyi District Court of the city of Dnipro found the former head of the prevention sector of police department No. 3 guilty of abuse of influence.
The woman complained of violence from her ex-husband, but her complaints were ignored for a long time. In the fall of 2024, a policeman she knew offered her “help” for a reward. He demanded $500 to influence the court to have her ex-husband arrested, as well as 10,000 hryvnias and sexual services as “personal payment.”
Law enforcement officers recorded the fact of extortion. Under the control of the SBU, the woman handed the policeman only 10 thousand hryvnias, to which he agreed, given her family circumstances. After that, he continued to insist on an intimate meeting, but was refused.
The police officer later learned about the application to the SBU and tried to convince the woman to change her testimony, claiming that it was a "joke."
In court, the accused pleaded not guilty, calling the case a provocation. However, evidence in the form of Facebook correspondence and materials from secret investigative actions confirmed his guilt.
The court sentenced him to 3 years in prison and a ban on holding positions in law enforcement agencies for 2 years.
