In Cherkasy region, a tax inspector is suspected of abuse of office and destruction of data, the regional prosecutor's office reported. According to the investigation, the civil servant, using her powers, entered the information and communication system of the State Tax Service under her own login and password and, without legal grounds, deleted two tax notices-decisions for the payment of real estate tax in the amount of 500 thousand hryvnias.
Such actions led to the unauthorized destruction of data and the actual non-receipt of funds to the budget. The investigation is also currently establishing the circumstances of the receipt of illegal benefits by another person in whose interests these actions may have been committed.
The chief state inspector of one of the departments of taxation of individuals of the State Tax Service in Cherkasy region is charged with criminal offenses under Part 1 of Article 362 (unauthorized interference in the operation of computers, systems and networks) and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position).
The case is currently under investigation, and prosecutors are examining all circumstances to bring the perpetrators to justice and compensate the state for the damages caused.
