The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine satisfied the claim of the SAPO prosecutor based on the materials of the NACP and declared assets worth 1.64 million hryvnias belonging to the prosecutor of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General's Office unfounded.
According to the NACP, the prosecutor received about 1.95 million hryvnias from her mother as a gift to purchase an apartment. However, an analysis of the mother's income and expenses showed that part of the funds, namely 1.64 million hryvnias, could not have been acquired legally.
Based on the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, these assets are subject to confiscation in accordance with Article 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine. The decision may be appealed within 30 days from the date of publication of the full text.
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of the system of control over the lifestyle of civil servants and their relatives. The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption actively monitors the legality of the acquisition of assets and financial receipts.
The prosecutor and her family may come under additional scrutiny from law enforcement agencies. The confiscation of assets will serve as a warning to other public officials about the need for transparent asset declaration.
