The High Council of Justice approved the arrest of Olha Lelyk, a judge of the Pidhayets District Court of the Ternopil region, who is suspected of committing a road accident in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which led to the death of one person and the injury of another.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the request for consent to detention was received from the prosecutor, and the Supreme Court of Justice granted it. The judges incriminate the defendant with a violation of traffic rules, which caused the death of the victim and bodily injury to another person (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The tragedy occurred on October 31, 2025 in the village of Fraga, Ivano-Frankivsk district, on the Mukachevo-Lviv highway. According to the investigation, the judge, driving a Lexus UX 250h, was moving towards Lviv and did not reduce speed near an unregulated pedestrian crossing. As a result, she hit two people who were crossing the road.
As a result of the accident, one pedestrian died on the spot, and the other received numerous injuries. Under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the judge was informed of the suspicion.
Investigative actions are currently underway, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including the speed of the car and the condition of the driver at the time of the accident.
