In Vinnytsia region, law enforcement officers have exposed an organized criminal group that was preparing a contract killing of a Kyiv resident through prisoners in the Ladyzhynska colony. According to the investigation, the order came from a woman with criminal connections, and the perpetrators were sought directly from places of imprisonment.
The Vinnytsia region police reported suspicions to three members of an organized criminal group who were planning to murder a Kyiv resident.
According to investigators, the order to eliminate the man came from a woman from Kyiv. She looked for the perpetrators through acquaintances in criminal circles, and eventually came across convicts serving their sentences in the Ladyzhyn Correctional Facility.
For $5,000, three prisoners who had previously been convicted of particularly serious crimes agreed to organize a crime: find the perpetrator, collect data about the future victim, and pass the information on to the client.
The organizer of the scheme, according to law enforcement, was a 49-year-old convicted prisoner who is serving a 12-year sentence for robbery and extortion. In the colony, he called himself a "criminal authority." He involved two cellmates in the plan - a 37-year-old and a 31-year-old convict.
Back in January 2025, investigators learned about the preparation of a contract killing and began monitoring the suspects. In June, they conducted searches of their places of detention and residence.
During the investigation, mobile phones, bank cards, computers, flash drives, and draft records with information about the victim — his address, travel routes, and personal data — were seized.
The 49-year-old organizer was charged with preparation for premeditated murder for selfish motives, committed on the orders of an organized group (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 14, Subparagraphs 6, 11, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). His accomplices were charged with complicity under similar articles.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. All three defendants face life imprisonment.
