US President Donald Trump has made a new loud statement regarding the war in Ukraine. He called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to strike Moscow and on Russian leader Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire agreement within 50 days. Otherwise, according to Trump, Russia will face serious consequences.
Reuters reports this, commenting on the position of the American leader, expressed after the appearance of an article in the Financial Times, which stated that Trump allegedly privately called on Ukraine to intensify strikes on Russian territory.
“No, he should not attack Moscow,” Trump told reporters in Washington, answering a question about whether Zelensky should expand hostilities to the Russian capital.
The American president noted that he had not yet spoken to Putin, but suggested that time for a possible deal was limited. “If we don’t make a deal in 50 days, things are going to be very bad,” he warned, without specifying what measures were in mind.
At the same time, Trump did not mention direct negotiations with the Kremlin, which may indicate either a lack of specific plans or a deliberate concealment of details.
Earlier, Trump, when asked who he supported in the war, said: “I’m not on anyone’s side,” and added that he was “on the side of humanity” because he wanted to “stop the killing.”.
This is not the first ambiguous statement by Trump regarding the war in Ukraine. On Monday, he also announced new arms supplies to Ukraine via other countries and threatened Russia with secondary tariffs in the event of further escalation.
