According to the latest reports, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have serious problems with the defense of Chasovoy Yar due to the lack of anti-aircraft missiles. This alarming situation was highlighted by the well-known German magazine BILD with the help of analyst Julian Röpke.
The analyst commented on a video in which a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft flew over the village of Ivanovske and attacked Chasiv Yar. The plane was moving at a low altitude.
It is noted that the attack aircraft approached the Ukrainian positions by less than three kilometers. However, there were no attempts to shoot it down, so, releasing the heat traps, the plane turned towards Bakhmut.
"A few months ago, it was impossible to imagine a Russian attack aircraft flying over a city controlled by the Armed Forces, and not being shot down with MANPADS," Röpke emphasized.
According to him, it was believed that Ukraine has thousands of American Stinger MANPADS and Soviet analogues in its arsenal.
"But it seems they have reached the end. It is very worrying that Ukraine obviously does not have anti-aircraft missiles to defend itself here," the analyst added.
The situation in Chasovoy Yar: what do the Armed Forces say?
On April 21, the defense of Chasovoy Yar was commented on the broadcast of the telethon by the spokesman of the operational-strategic group of troops "Khortytsia", Lt. Col. Nazar Voloshyn.
"Chasiv Yar holds on. The enemy is pressing in the direction of Bakhmut and in particular Chasiv Yar. But the situation is fully controlled by units of the Defense Forces. There is no enemy in the city," he assured.
Voloshyn said that the Russian attack aircraft are driving the BMP and attacking with the support of drones and artillery. Enemy aviation bombards civilian infrastructure and Ukrainian positions along the entire line of defense with anti-aircraft missiles and anti-aircraft missiles. Also, the artillery of the Russian Armed Forces works "quite densely" and constantly. Approximately 120 mortar and artillery attacks were recorded during the day.
"For the shelling of Chasovoy Yar and other populated areas, Russia currently uses Korean and Chinese-made ammunition. North Korean, it will be more accurate," added the spokesman of the Khortytsya OSU.
