The Security Service of Ukraine prevented a large -scale terrorist attack in the center of Kiev, eliminating the threat before its implementation. Thanks to the operational special operation, counterintelligence detained the agent of the Russian special services, who planned to undermine explosives near one of the SBU buildings.
According to the investigation, Russian curators remotely recruited a 22-year-old resident of Lviv, who had a drug addiction and sought "fast money" through telegram channels. She arrived in Kiev, where she was rented an apartment in the city center in advance.
The Russian agents handed her the surveillance to her courier delivery, which she installed on the balcony of the rented apartment. This allowed the real -time occupants to monitor the situation and adjust the planning of the terrorist attack. They even planned to fix the effects of the explosion online.
The terrorist attack was to occur on one of the central crowded streets of the capital. Although the SBU was not used by the SBU staff, because of its relocation during the war, civilians could be victims.
The SBU worked on ahead and detained the Russian agent directly at the moment when she received a bag of explosives from the hiding place.
During the search, she was removed:
- A 7 -kg home -made explosive device in TNT, which was sufficient to task serious damage and mass casualties.
- The mobile phone she used to communicate with Russian curators.
The woman has already reported suspicion of several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- State betrayal (Part 2 of Article 111) - committed in the conditions of martial law.
- Preparation for the terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258) - according to the prior conspiracy of a group of persons.
- Illegal treatment of explosives (Part 1 of Article 263).
She is threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
The SBU continues urgent investigative actions to establish all persons involved in planning and preparing a terrorist attack. Particular attention is paid to the identification of Russian curators who coordinated the actions of the agent.
The special operation was held under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
