In the Maramures mountains on the territory of Romania, mountain rescuers found three Ukrainians who lost their orientation while crossing the border. This is reported by Digi24.
On Tuesday evening, three citizens of Ukraine, who crossed the border with Romania through one of the most risky areas in the Maramures mountains, called the single emergency number 112. A joint group of mountain rescuers and border police set out to search for them.
After 12 hours, the rescuers decided to stop the search for Ukrainians. As reported, they did not listen to the instructions and left the place where they were supposed to wait for help.
However, later the head of the mountain rescue service, Sabin Kornoiu, reported that three Ukrainians were found alive.
"Rescuers today expanded the search area and hoped to intervene with an aerial search helicopter, but the flight conditions were not the best. Therefore, all searches today were conducted on the ground and, fortunately for us, we were able to correctly assess the area where they could retreat, find them in a very dangerous valley," he said.
According to him, one of them received several injuries due to falling stones in the area, and the other two have "slight hypothermia". All of them will be taken to the hospital.
