The European Union announced the extension of free roaming for Ukrainian refugees for another year. This decision was taken in order to support people who were forced to leave their country due to conflict and instability.
Currently, Ukrainians will be able to use domestic mobile phone tariffs in EU countries without additional payments for four months. EU citizens, in turn, will have the same rights when visiting Ukraine.
Telecommunications operators from the EU and Ukraine for the first time signed a joint statement on coordinated efforts to ensure and stabilize affordable or free roaming and international calls between the EU and Ukraine in April 2022.
Separately, in February 2023, the European Commission proposed to join Ukraine to the EU roaming zone. In April of the same year, the Association Committee between Ukraine and the EU accepted the European Commission's proposal for Ukraine to join the EU rules on roaming.
We will remind you that on June 18, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the law on the implementation of European legislation on roaming. In April last year, the government approved the relevant document.
