The Ukrainian Dragon Boat Rowing Team demonstrated incredible success at the 2025 World Games, which are taking place in China, the birthplace of the sport. Our athletes won a full set of medals, lifting Ukraine to third place in the overall medal standings.
The Ukrainian team won the bronze medal in the final of the 200-meter 10-seater. The Ukrainian rowers finished third with a time of 48.85 seconds, losing only 4 hundredths of a second to the silver-winning Chinese team. The winners were athletes from Thailand.
Our team won gold in the final of the 500-meter open 8-seater, where they showed a time of 2:05.53, ahead of the Indonesians by 0.18 seconds. Silver in this discipline went to Thailand.
The Ukrainians won another silver medal in the 500-meter 10-seater final, losing only to the Indonesian team.
The triumph at the 2000-meter 10-seater Pursuit Race was especially bright, where Ukrainian rowers won their second gold with a time of 9:19.87, ahead of the Indonesians and Spaniards.
The team consists of true heroes of the "blue and yellow": Serhiy Semenyuk, Danylo Kuharuk, Olga Burago, Olena Skvortsova, Viktor Svyrydyuk, Oleksandr Kalmus, Snezhana Zhygaylo, Mykola Verkhovetsky, Anastasia Mazurenko, Kateryna Petrenko, Yuriy Bardashevsky (helmsman) and Olesya Matvienko (drummer).
This success is a great gift for Ukraine on the international stage, which once again confirms the high level of our athletes in rowing on Dragon boats.
