On Tuesday evening, March 26, the national football team of Ukraine won an important victory over the Iceland team in the final match of the play-off qualification for the 2024 European Championship. According to Ukrainian sports media, the match ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of Ukraine.
In the first half, the opponents' player, Albert Gudmundsson, scored a goal, beating goalkeeper Andrii Lunin in the 30th minute of the game. However, in the second half, the national team of Ukraine was able to restore the balance. Thanks to the counterattack played by Sudakov, Tsygankov distinguished himself with an accurate shot, bringing the national team of Ukraine to the level of 1:1. In the 84th minute, Mykhailo Mudryk scored the winning goal, hitting the bottom corner of the Iceland team's goal.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already expressed his congratulations to the national team through his Telegram channel. Under the leadership of Serhiy Rebrov, who overcame "Path B" in head-to-head matches, the Ukrainian team qualified for the main tournament in Group E, where they will face teams from Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
This year, the 2024 European Championship will be held in Germany. The tournament will start on June 14 and end on July 14.
