A Ukrainian delegation, including Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia, has arrived in the United States to discuss the peace plan promoted by President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the consultations.
According to the agency, Ukrainian representatives will meet in Florida with US special representative Steve Witkoff, as well as with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. It is Witkoff, according to Bloomberg, who will lead the American delegation at the talks in Russia, which are scheduled to take place next week.
The article notes that a phone call between Witkoff and a senior Russian official last month indicated the Trump team’s willingness to discuss “working together on a plan for Ukraine,” suggesting that the upcoming consultations could be part of a broader diplomatic initiative.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously announced that Ukraine will be represented at the talks with the US by Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov, representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, and Ukrainian intelligence. The meeting is scheduled for next week.
Previously, the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations was led by the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak. On November 28, he resigned, which led to a change in the format of Ukraine's representation in further consultations.
