The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, announced plans to carry out personnel purges in the department, the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to the information published in the mass media, the main reasons for these measures are inefficiency, outdated work methods and insufficient results in various directions.
Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov fired two deputy chiefs of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kyril Budanov, Viktor Zaitsev and Igor Ostapenko, and is planning a large-scale personnel purge.
This was reported to the Ministry of Defense.
According to one of the sources, the dismissal of the deputy heads of the State Government took place about a week ago. Budanov himself disagreed with the dismissal decision. According to the interlocutor of the UP, such a decision is not the initiative of the minister himself.
At the same time, unconfirmed information is actively circulating on the Internet that the Office of the President is planning the resignation of Budanov himself.
The interlocutor did not comment on these rumors.
Another source noted that Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov plans to fire or has already fired about 20 generals and high-ranking officials.
