The staff of the State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion of the law enforcement officer, who on May 2, 2025 became the culprit of a tragic accident near the village of Machukha in Poltava region. Two people were killed as a result of the accident, and another is in intensive care.
According to the investigation, a law enforcement officer, while driving a service car, left the oncoming lane during the overtaking and admitted the frontal collision with another vehicle. Among the dead are the Armed Forces serviceman Sergeant Viktor Borovko (36 years old) and police Anatoliy Ilyashenko (23 years) who were in the car with the suspect.
Another passenger, a civilian, was severely injured and was hospitalized.
The law enforcement officer who was driving was informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of several persons. The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison.
The DBR emphasizes that the investigation is ongoing, investigative actions are aimed at fully establishing the circumstances of the tragedy.
