Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his support for Israel during the night attacks by Iran and expressed gratitude to allies for their help in protecting Ukrainian skies from attacks by Russian drones, missiles and aerial bombs. Zelensky emphasized the inequality in the fight against terrorism, when it comes to the lives of citizens of different countries, and promised to discuss this issue with partners in the near future.
In his speech on Monday, April 15, the president noted that, although Israel is not a member of NATO, he managed to get the support of allies without referring to Article 5. According to Zelensky, this is another example that solidarity can be effective in the fight against terrorism
The President emphasized that the sound of the Shahed that is heard in the sky of Ukraine is the same as the one that is heard in the Middle East, and emphasized the need to get full support from partners in the fight against drones and missiles to ensure security not only in certain places, but worldwide.
The head of state expressed his gratitude to all countries and leaders who support Ukraine's air defense by supplying the necessary missiles to protect the sky and train F-16 pilots. This support is intended to ensure the safety of citizens' lives. However, according to the president, this support may seem less than that shown by partners in defense of Israel.
"Now we know 100 percent how unity actually works and how we can shoot down bombs and missiles almost 100 percent," Zelensky emphasized.
On the night of April 14, Iran announced "retaliatory events" and launched an attack on Israel after the killing of several Iranian generals in the consulate in Syria. Iran fired more than 300 aerial targets, including about 150 missiles and 165 drones, toward Israel. However, American and British aircraft destroyed 99% of these targets, as well as the Israeli Iron Dome, most of which did not reach Israel.
This morning, Republican leaders in the US Congress said they would consider providing additional aid to Israel this week. This happens despite the fact that Washington was unable to approve the aid package for Ukraine due to the political maneuvers of politicians.
The Israeli military may retaliate with a strike against Iran, although President Joe Biden has called for an escalation of the conflict. This must be remembered.
