The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion of one of the military units deputy commander of one of the military units in Vinnytsia region. Investigators found that in 2022 he organized an illegal scheme for accrual of combat extras to servicemen who were not actually participating in the battles.
According to the case file, in the period from September to December 2022, 62 servicemen were sent for task to the Kiev region. At that time, the region was not officially part of the fighting zones. However, the official issued a certificate of allegedly directly involvement of these persons in the battles.
On the basis of fictitious documents, UAH 4.8 million of additional remuneration was illegally accrued and paid.
According to the DBR, the deputy commander is suspected of negligent attitude towards military service, which caused grave consequences in the conditions of martial law - under Part 4 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
If guilty is proven, he is threatened with up to eight years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing, and in the DBR it is noted that during a full -scale war, even the rear frauds have consequences that undermine confidence in the army.
