Archaeological excavations in the territory of the unique Trypillian settlement "Talyanka" were restored in Cherkasy region. After several years of break, researchers have been working again on a site, which is considered one of the largest ancient cities in Europe Eneolithic. The works began in early June 2025-the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Trypillian Culture" informed about it.
This year, archaeologists have focused on a new area near Gonchar Horn, opened in 2013. Studies were also joined by students of the Faculty of History of the Uman State Pedagogical University, who work under the guidance of experienced scientists.
Trypillian ceramics have already been found - probably parts of utensils or ritual objects. Such findings are key to understanding the daily life, religion and crafts of Trypillians. In addition, archaeologists recorded the boundaries of one of the ditches and carried out a thorough cleaning of the surface, which would allow further study of the object.
The Talyanka settlement, located in the Uman district of Cherkasy region, is one of the largest objects of Trypillian culture - its area exceeds 450 hectares. According to scientists, in the V -IV millennia BC could live up to 15,000 people there. The findings indicate a high level of development - from architecture to pottery technologies.
Restoration of excavations in Talinka is an important step for Ukrainian archeology. It allows you to study one of the oldest civilizations in Europe, as well as to maintain its inheritance. This year's research is expected to bring new unique artifacts and knowledge of ancient life in the territory of modern Ukraine.
