Denmark has expressed its readiness to send its military contingent to Ukraine if necessary to ensure a future peaceful settlement. This statement was made by Danish Foreign and Defense Ministers Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Troels Lund Poulsen after a meeting with the parliament's foreign policy committee.
The heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of the country explained that this initiative received support from most parliamentary parties. According to Lars Løkke Rasmussen, such a step is an important signal both for the Russian authorities and for allies in Washington. The minister emphasized that in the event of a peace agreement or ceasefire that would require a European military presence, Denmark is ready to participate in it.
At the same time, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen clarified that there is no concrete decision yet to send troops, as the situation remains uncertain. He noted that the government is only declaring its readiness, and the final decision will be made depending on further developments.
This initiative by Denmark is an important diplomatic signal, demonstrating the willingness of European countries to participate in a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine and to ensure security in the region after the end of active hostilities.
