The director of the company is suspected of smuggling

Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine announced the discovery of a criminal scheme related to the importation of helmets and bulletproof vests under the guise of humanitarian aid for the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The director of the company, in order to receive benefits for the import of military goods, provided the customs authorities with forged letters with false information about the final recipient.

According to the documents, the ammunition was intended for the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. However, actually imported protective helmets and ballistic plates for body armor were not transferred to the military unit.

They were illegally sold through a network of specialized stores located in several regions of Ukraine and on the Internet.

According to the investigation, in May 2022, under the guise of humanitarian aid, the suspect imported 1,000 protective helmets and 3,000 ballistic plates for body armor into the customs territory of Ukraine.

During searches of the company's office and warehouse premises and stores, BEB detectives seized helmets, ballistic plates and body armor of various protection classes with a total value of over 40 million hryvnias.

Financial and economic documents confirming the illegal activity of the company were also seized.

In addition, the Bureau's employees established that the company's officials evaded paying taxes for more than UAH 15 million during the sale of ammunition. Illegally imported goods seized during the search were seized.
