Svitolina confidently defeated her opponent from Japan, Moyuka Uchijima (No. 66 WTA), with a score of 6:2, 6:1.
The next opponent of the Ukrainian tennis player will be either the American Jessica Pegula (No. 6 WTA) or the Swiss Victoria Golubych (No. 79 WTA). This match will determine who Svitolina will meet in the second round.
Elina Svitolina, former number three in the world, is the best tennis player in the history of Ukraine. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo-2020, she won a bronze medal, which became the first Olympic award of independent Ukraine in tennis.
