The scandal with theft of Ukrainian grain during the occupation of Kherson region was continued. The deputy of the regional council Sergey Sorokunsky, who was part of the forbidden pro -Russian party "Bloc Vladimir Saldo", was taken into custody without bail.
Law enforcement officers accuse him of assisting the occupiers, transferring food of the Russian army and assistance in the illegal export of Ukrainian grain to the temporarily occupied Crimea.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, Sorokursky, the owner of several farms in the Kherson region, in the spring of 2022 he supplied food to the Russian military in the village of Muzykivka. In addition, he handled its harvest of winter wheat by the occupying "Kherson Grain Company".
Moreover, the deputy helped the invaders to pick a crop from local farmers. He coordinated the forced harvesting of grain from the Ukrainian fields, organized its transportation and personally engaged in the removal of agricultural products to the Crimea through Dzhankoy, where the grain was planned to be transported abroad.
In order to move the occupied territory freely, Sorokursky received a "automotive pass" from the Russian administration, which gave him the special status of the "federal advisor".
