The Prosecutor General's Office and the National Police of Ukraine informed the head of the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant (Poltava GZK), his deputy and two heads of departments of suspicion in the case of the legalization of property obtained through criminal means. All of them are accused of the previous conspiracy of a group of persons on a particularly large scale.
According to the investigation, the chairman of the board of Poltava GZK together with the deputy and two heads of departments organized a scheme of illegal extraction and processing of minerals. The plant had a license only to extract iron ore, but the suspects extracted and processed iron quartzite into crushed stone and other minerals of national importance without the appropriate permits.
In order to legalize illegal products, officials entered false information about the results of mineral processing in reporting documents. Thus, they managed to legalize more than 885,000 tons of crushed stone products and loose rock for the total amount of 33.5 million hryvnias.
At the moment, preventive measures have been taken against the suspects, and their property has been seized for further confiscation. Investigators are also identifying other persons involved in the crime in order to bring them to justice.
This case is not the first for Poltava GZK. In September 2023, investigators already informed the head of the combine about the suspicion of illegal subsoil extraction in the amount of 157 billion hryvnias, which caused damage to the environment.
Currently, the investigation continues, and law enforcement officers are taking measures to expand the circle of persons involved in criminal activity at the Poltava GZK.
