Green tea can reduce the risk of dementia if you use it moderately - up to six cups a day. This is stated in the study of scientists from the College of Zicido in China, published in the journal of Translational Psychiatry .
The aging of the body is inevitable, but some factors can be controlled. The World Health Organization notes that more than 55 million people in the world live with dementia - a disorder that causes memory loss and the need for constant care. Most often (up to 70% of cases) it is manifested in the form of Alzheimer's disease.
Scientists have found that regular use of green tea can reduce the risk of cognitive disorders. For those who drank tea daily (from one to six cups), the likelihood of dementia was 16% lower. In particular, the risk of Alzheimer's disease was reduced by 16-19%and vascular dementia by 25-29%.
The greatest protective effect was observed when consuming three cups of tea a day. It was this amount that was optimal-scientists talk about the so-called U-shaped ligament: excessive consumption (more than six cups) did not show additional advantages over complete refusal to tea.
The results of the study indicate the possibility of prevention of dementia due to simple changes in the daily diet. But doctors warn: tea is not a medicine, but only one of the risk factors.
