Putin seeks negotiations from the position of force: Russia prepares an offensive on Sumy region, Kharkiv and Zaporozhye

The Russian army is preparing for new offensive actions against Ukraine, concentrating forces in Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying that the Kremlin is trying to use any negotiations as a means of delaying time and regrouping troops.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian troops increase the presence near the borders of Ukraine, planning another attempt at break. Zelensky stressed that Moscow consciously delayed the negotiation process and tries to attract Washington in endless discussions about the "conditions" that are in fact manipulation.

"Russia wants to win time and then try to seize even more land. Putin thinks only of the war, and negotiations for him is just a reason for pause before the offensive," the President of Ukraine said.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine needs further military assistance to confront the new wave of Russian aggression, including artillery shells, drones and air defense systems.

"We need more investments, more joint production, more localization of everything aimed at scaling our defense potential - from shells to drones and missiles," the Head of State said.

He also emphasized the need for urgent financing of Ukraine's defense support:

"Europe needs to find 5 billion euros for artillery shells this year. We also need to strengthen the production of airplane systems and missiles," Zelensky emphasized.

According to him, the domestic production of weapons in Ukraine is underfunding by about 20 billion euros, and these funds can be received at the expense of confiscated Russian assets.

It should be reminded that in August 2024 the Armed Forces of Ukraine began an offensive in the Kursk region, which was able to occupy more than 100 settlements and create a buffer zone in the territory of Russia.

According to the President, this operation was a preventive step to prevent the offensive of Russian troops in the Sumy region. For the last half of a year, the Russian army has been trying to knock out Ukrainian forces from the occupied positions, attracting even North Korea troops in the fighting.

In March, the situation at the front aggravated - Russia increased its attacks, which once again confirms its unwillingness to stop the war and the desire to expand the occupied territories.
