Western media have released the probable conditions that Moscow is ready to put forward Ukraine in exchange for ceasefire. In particular, the Clash Report , citing sources in Bloomberg , writes that the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, during the negotiations in Istanbul, expressed demands that were actually an ultimatum about surrender.
What Russia demands
-
Ukraine's neutral status according to the Austrian model - without foreign troops and weapons of mass destruction in the country.
-
Refusal of reparations - no mutual claims against the war.
-
Russian -speaking rights - Kiev must guarantee "European standards" and stop "nationalist propaganda".
-
Recognition of the occupied territories - Russia demands that Ukraine does not make claims to Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, and did not interfere with their international “recognition”.
-
The withdrawal of the Armed Forces from these territories - Kyiv should remove its forces from all occupied regions.
According to Bloomberg, only after performing these conditions, the Kremlin is allegedly ready to consider the option of termination of hostilities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tykhy confirmed that in the negotiations in Turkey, the Russian side really put forward unacceptable positions. According to him, the delegation of Ukraine was "calm" without resorting to public controversy.
The Economist journalists reported that during the negotiations, Medinsky threatened the admiration of Kharkiv and Sumy regions, stating that Russia is ready to "fight forever" if Ukraine does not adhere to the conditions proposed.
Negotiations in Istanbul have become the first direct in the last three years. Representatives of the parties agreed to exchange prisoners under the formula "1000 per 1000". The Russian side stated that during the meeting "a vision of a possible formula of peace was presented." However, for the Ukrainian delegation, the voiced proved to be categorically unacceptable.
