There are no official public holidays in Ukraine today, but this day has a rich cultural and spiritual content.
Church holiday
The Orthodox Church honors the Saints Paul and Peter of Nicea, as well as St. Paul the Obedient. According to the old style, this day commemorates St. John of Pochaiv and Anna the Prophetess. It is believed that prayers today are especially effective for family well-being, economic affairs, and the harvest.
Holiday in the world
The international community celebrates several important dates at once. This is World Suicide Prevention Day, which reminds us of the value of life, as well as Gynecological Health Day, which calls on women to take care of their health and undergo regular preventive examinations. Beauty industry enthusiasts celebrate Makeup Day.
Folk traditions
According to the folk calendar, this day marked the end of the harvest, and people gathered viburnum and mountain ash, from which they made jam and dried amulets. It was believed that the saints commemorated in the church helped with household chores — from repairs and construction to harvesting.
